Well, I haven’t had a chance to post in a while, I have had things done, I just hadn’t had a chance to sit down and post. These last few days have been really busy. I got a big chunk of time before and after dinner yesterday to wrok on the cabled sweater. I really think it is turning out nice, and despite it being slow, it was a very easy pattern to memorize.

I also finished the felted gloves for Reagan. I still have to knit a ribbing and sew it in to keep out any (very) hypothetical snow, but I think they turned out cute, and she likes them. Hopefully these will fit her a little longer than the fair isle ones I knit for her last year. She can’t even get those on. I made these out of that self striping yarn I dyed, and it was a lot of fun. I have also been spinning and dyeing. I was reading on the internet during a bout of insomnia about Irish Tension. As in Scotch tension, you have a drive band and a brake band, the drive band goes around the bobbin whorl and the brake band around the flyer whorl. It is a little noisy on my wheel, but spun a very fine single with very little effort on my largest whorl. I also managed to get rid of a persistant squeaky gate sound coming from my front treadle by rubbing candle wax on the peice of wood that seperates them, and heavily oiling the leather ties that tie the treadles to the footmen. Hopefully that will last a while.  Posted by Picasa
