At Last!

Ever since we moved to Oklahoma, it seems like I have been waiting for some real winter weather. It gets cold here, sporadically, but we don’t get a lot of snow or ice. There is absolutly nothing I love more than being snowed in with my family, and I finally got what I was wishing for on Friday night. About 8 that night, the sleet started, and it was still sleeting when I went to bed about 1. Sean was sick, so I had to sleep on the couch, but it was so peaceful listening to the ice hit the roof. I had a cup or two of chamomile tea and slept really well. Of course, it has been an adventure, since the puppies are inside and not really housetrained. We put them out frequently, and there hasn’t been a single accident.

Luckily, the bad roads didn’t keep the mail from running, and my Beverly carder was delivered Saturday morning! I got it out of the box and put together, and did a few quick batts. They turned out well, they spin smoothly. I am sure as I gain more experience with it, they will turn out better. I have a little ways to go to acheiving the results I am looking for.

I carded a few color blends, a mix of silk noils and teeswater (don’t know how that is going to turn out spun, but its pretty as a batt!) and some mysetery fleece that really got a lot of neps in it. I need to figure out how to get the slower speed on there, I am sure that will help a lot. The skein of yarn on top is just about dead on for the specifications I need for the fair isle project. I’m happy!

I got some moolah for my birthday, and I ordered some grey shetland and a set of 000 40″ addi turbos with the money my MIL gave me. Mom gave me money too, don’t know what I am going to do with that. My sister Jodi sent me the most delicous no bake cookies, a Jadeite bowl and a little Nippon dish. So now, I have glassware of my own.

Because of the bad roads Church was canceled today. I haven’t got to go to church in three weeks, at least on Sunday. I hope I get to go next week. However, I am going to enjoy my day, snug and warm with my family and spinning.
