I finished winding the skeins of yarn for the Fair Isle project last night, and here are the finished results. Quite enough for several pairs of socks, you’d think. Now I just need to finish a couple of things on the charting, knit a swatch, and get going. I am so excited to finally be done with the spinning.

Sean took the day off from work yesterday, and we went on a giant wild goose chase. I was looking for a baking stone, and King Arthur Flour. The KA website had listed several places that carried it in Tulsa, but none in my area, so off we went. We stopped at 4 stores looking for a pizza stone, and none of the stores that were supposed to have KA flour actually did. Finally we called the health food store, yes they had the flour. So they put my name on the one bag of flour they had so that it would be there when I got there, and we decided to stop at a Tile store to get unglazed quarry tiles to use in the oven (perfectly safe for oven use, I checked and checked again) We buy the box of quarry tiles and head for the health food store. We go down their cooking utensils aisle, and there, you guessed it, is a pizza stone. Sigh. However, I was able to set the quarry tiles up in such a way that it’s like having a little brick oven in the house. And it makes incredible bread. My bread today had incredible spring, and when I pulled it out of the oven, you could hear the crust crackling as it cooled, which is the effect I have been looking for. So all in all, I guess I’m happy!

This is the last picture for today, of the kids that I took yesterday.  Posted by Picasa
